Why this verdict
A practical desktop DAC and variable RCA/XLR preamplifier when its connections and documented sample behavior fit the system. Loaded headphone power, distortion and arbitrary op-amp compatibility remain unverified.
What it replaces
A desktop USB/S/PDIF/Bluetooth DAC, a variable RCA/XLR line controller and a headphone amplifier within the documented use conditions.
What it does not replace
A network streamer, HDMI ARC interface, power amplifier for passive speakers or a load-verified high-power headphone amplifier.
What we tested
Rojas tested Q7 on 2026-09-29. USB, 1 kHz, -3 dBFS, 48 kHz/24-bit stereo WAV, Q7 volume 100, UNI-T UT61E+: Q7-A RCA L/R 1.611/1.6097 Vrms and XLR 2.951/2.915 Vrms; Q7-B XLR 2.936/2.924 Vrms. The retained report records input/volume memory, USB operation and sleep/wake, optical playback, Bluetooth continuity and mute. Calibration, load and some source settings were not recorded. Derived 0 dBFS levels are estimates, not direct measurements.
What we have not tested
No calibrated noise/distortion sweep, loaded 6.35 mm or 4.4 mm headphone power, maximum unclipped output, output impedance or controlled stock-versus-DIY comparison. Headphone models, some source settings and complete raw logs remain unspecified. These limits do not invalidate the retained readings and functional observations; long-term reliability remains unknown.
Compatibility conditions
USB and sleep/wake apply to the tested computer; OS and player versions were not recorded. Optical and Bluetooth observations do not verify every source or codec. Match the AC voltage to the unit label. Op-amp replacement requires verified electrical compatibility.
Alternatives by system role
FiiO K7 for a headphone-first system with explicit output modes; Fosi ZH3 for analog input and documented output power; TOPPING DX5 II for PEQ and more documented headphone capability. These are system-role alternatives, not a measured sound-quality ranking.
Existing-owner upgrade advice
Keep an existing DAC/amp if its connections and headphone drive already meet the need. Choose Q7 for a required Bluetooth or variable XLR path; do not upgrade solely because of DAC chips or op-amp socket count.
Current reassessment
Rojas tested the documented Q7 samples on 2026-09-29. Existing line readings and functional observations support L3 for that scope; no new measurement was performed for this metadata confirmation.
Long-term evidence boundary
The dated sample session is not a six-month ownership study. Long-term reliability, representative failure rates and service outcomes remain unknown.

These readings were supplied by the SoundPath Lab owner/editorial tester. USB input, 1 kHz signal at −3 dBFS, Q7 volume 100, UNI-T UT61E+ meter; XLR pins 2–3 were explicitly confirmed for sample B.

These are −3 dBFS readings, not directly measured full-scale levels or maximum clean output. Derived 0 dBFS estimates require linear, unclipped behavior. Load, calibration, meter range and complete source settings were not recorded; no distortion or loaded headphone-power result is claimed.
Reported functional observations include input/volume memory, USB operation and sleep/wake on the tested computer, optical playback, and Bluetooth connection/reconnection. These apply to the recorded setups, not every computer or production batch.
Three socketed, user-replaceable op-amp positions

They do not establish identical stock op-amps in every batch, arbitrary op-amp compatibility, unaffected warranty, or guaranteed sonic improvement. Any DIY comparison requires documented parts, electrical compatibility and level-matched testing.
